Facing the prospect of redundancy or decided it’s time to change jobs? Yes, I know: everyone tells you it’s a great opportunity, but many people don’t feel like that. That’s a real shame, because it really is! For me it was looming redundancy that was the catalyst to me becoming a life coach. It’s spurred many others to start businesses, change careers or get a much better job in the field that they worked in.
Redundancy or change of jobs is one of the winds that blows through our lives from time to time, and I would love to see you catch that wind in your sails and use it to your advantage. If it’s scary or overwhelming, we can look at your beliefs about yourself and the world and work out why. “I couldn’t do that… I’m no good… There will be someone better… No one would want me…” We can build up these sorts of mistaken beliefs and the thing is, they’re not true! I have some great tools that you can use to change those negative, mistaken beliefs.
We can look at your current job. What do you like? What inspires you? What do you want to avoid? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What opportunities does that bring?
Using my experience in employee engagement we can look at what types of companies you would want to work with. Some environments will inspire you: others will drag you down, so it’s important to look not just at the job but the company.
But mainly, what are your dreams. What would you love to do if you have the chance? What could you do? There are a lot more options that you think. Continuing in the same field, retiring, changing fields, taking a gap year, starting your own business, consultancy, contracting or taking on a franchise are just the headlines. Often when you dig down, people have incredibly creative ideas of things that would really inspire them.
I can guide you to look at your ideas and sort out the fantasy ones from the real dreams. I have tools that will uncover your real values. Nothing catches the wind in your sails more than having your life lining up with your values. If you’re up for this sort of exploring, you’ll come up with some great options.
The thing is, 99% of them or more are possible! Too often we look at the first hurdle, decide that it must be impossible and turn our backs on our dreams. I will work with you to look at the hurdles so that you can work out how to get over them, round them or under them to reach your goal. You will be able to sort out the priority so that you’re getting over the hurdles in the right order for you.
Whatever route you go down, it doesn’t take much research to come up with a long list of things that you need to do, or would be helpful to do. I will be there alongside you to work on your priorities, check that you’re on top of things and encourage you when you find things challenging.
You can do it, and I'm here to support you in turning your dream into a reality.
Catch the wind in your sails!
